Inmate texting apps are the most effective way to stay in contact with a relative or friend who is currently in jail. These apps are designed to comply with prison rules which allow family and friends to send messages, photos and video calls, eCards and money to their prison trust account. In addition to these messaging apps, there are also numerous federal inmate apps that offer additional services, such as video visits and phone calls.
JPay lets, for instance, family and friends to transfer money directly into an inmate's trust account as well as videos, photos, emails and eCards. They can also create personalized postcards featuring personal photos. It is a safer, more secure alternative to regular mail.
Another popular texting application for prisoners is GettingOut. It allows "simple, secure communication" between inmates with their loved ones. The app federl inmate texting is available at selected correctional facilities, and allows inmates to upload images and text messages to friends and family via their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 per message, and loved ones pay for the information used to access their messages (but not for explicit pictures).
