Inmate Text App
Inmate texting apps are the most effective way to stay in touch with a family member or friend who is currently behind bars. These apps are designed to comply with prison rules and permit family and friends to send messages, pictures video calls, eCards and even money to their trust accounts in prison. In addition to these messaging apps, there are also numerous federal inmate apps that offer additional services, such as video visits and phone calls.
The JPay application, for instance, enables family and friends to send money into an inmate's trust account, as well as photos, email, eCards and video grams. They can also create personalized postcards that include personal photos. It is a safer, more secure alternative to postal mail.
Another popular app for texting inmates is GettingOut. It provides "simple and reliable communication" between inmates with their loved ones. The app is available at selected correctional facilities, and allows inmates to upload photos and communicate with family and friends via their tablets. Inmates pay $0.25 text inmate per message, and their loved ones pay the cost of accessing them (but there are no explicit images). You can also use the GettingOut app to post images on Facebook or Foursquare and check in on Foursquare and add a video to a YouTube upload.
